Imagine two majestic towers twisting around each other, soaring more than a hundred metres into the New York sky. This is the astonishing scenario designed by One High Line. Formerly known as ‘XI’, this majestic residential skyscraper houses 236 luxury residences located in the west tower (36 floors) and the east tower (26 floors); plus a luxury hotel (Six Senses) with spa services.
What is behind the project?
Developed in 2015 thanks to the non-conformist vision of Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, the project was created in such a way as to provide all residents with a view of the Hudson River (on one side) and the teeming city of Manhattan (on the other). In addition, it allows access to the High Line, the famous elevated park built on a disused section of the old New York railway. With its unusual combination of travertine, bronze and glass, inspired by the warehouses of the Meatpacking District, One High Line is a high example of industrial design applied to the residential sector.
